41 female patients with romatoid arthritis who have been followed in the Romatology Clinic of Çukurova University were investigated in present study. Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Spielberger Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI 2), Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS), Body Cathexis Scale (BCS) and Coopersmith Self-Esteem Scale (CSES) were used; and the relationships between the scores of the scales and the characteristics of the disease were evaluated. As a result, patients with higher grade of the disease manifested signiicantly higher scores of BDI and TAS, and lower scores of BCS and CSES. The lower scores of the Lee index which showed the degree of functional capacity were associated with lower scores of BDI, STAI 2, TAS and higher scores of BCS and CSES. The patients who had an attack during the study had significantly higher scores of BDI and STAI 2, and lower scores of BCS and CSES than the ones without an attack during that time. There were no dillerences between the scores of the scales of the seropositive and seronegative patients. Results indicated that severity of the disease and the functional capacity of the patient were associated with the psychological well-being.

Bu çalışmaya ÇÜTF Romatoloji klini ğince romatoid artrit tanısıyla izlenen 41 kad ın hasta alınmıştır. Hastalara Beck Depresyon Ölçe ği (BDÖ), Spielberger Sürekli Kayg ı Envanteri (STAJ 2), Toronto Aleksitimi Ölçe ği (TAÖ), Vücut Alg ısı Ölçeği (VAÖ) ve Coppersmith Benlik Sayg ısı Ölçeği (CBSÖ) uygulanm ış; ölçek puanlarıyla hastalıkla ilgili özellikler arasındaki ilişki araştırdmıştır. Sonuçta hastalığın grade'i yüksek olan hastalarda BDÖ ve TAÖ puanları belirgin olarak yüksek, VAÖ ve CBSÖ puanlar ı düşük bulunmu ştur. Hastanın fonksiyonel durumunu gösteren Lee indeksi puanları düşük olgularda ise (fonksiyonel durumu daha iyi olan olgularda) BDÖ, STAI 2 ve TAÖ puanlar ı anlamlı düzeyde dü şük, VAÖ ve CBSÖ puanlar ı yüksektir. Halen hastal ığı alevlenme (depreşme) döneminde olan hastaların hastalığı depreşrne döneminde olmayanlara göre BDÖ ve STAI 2 puanlarının daha yüksek, VAÖ ve CBSÖ puanlar ının ise daha düşük olduğu belirlenmiştir. Seropozitif ve seronegatif hastaların ölçek puanları arasında farklılık bulunmam ıştır. Sonuçlar hastalığın şiddetinin ve yol açt ığı fonksiyonel kayb ın hastaların ruhsal durumu üzerinde etkili olduğunu göstermektedir.
