It was investigated the relationship between the immunologic effect of antipsychotic drugs its therapeutical effect. Also neuroleptic and corticosteroid combination therapy that was a new therapy modality were determined effectivity in the schizophrenic patients whom resisted to the therapy. The patients were included in the study according to exclusion and exclusion criteria that meet DSM-III-R and ICD-10 criteria of neuroleptic resistant schizophrenia with negative and positive symptoms have taken neuroleptics for four weeks, and then neuroleptics- prednisolone combination therapy for supsequent four weeks. The scale for the assessment of negative symptoms (SANS) and the scale the assessment of positive symptoms (SAPS) were and after neuroleptic the and after neuroleptics-prednisolone combination therapy was found to be significant in treatment of negative symptoms. In this study suggests that therapeutical effect of neuroleptic drugs is probably that of its immunosupressive effect or it proves that antipsychotic effect of steroid may be to increase dopaminergic activity in central nervous system.

Bu çalışma antipsikotiklerin immünolojik etkinlikleri ile tedavi edici etkinlikleri aras ındaki ilişkileri test etmek ve tedaviye dirençli şizofrenlerde yeni bir tedavi alternatifi olabilecek olan nöroleptik+kortikosteroid kombinasyonunun etkinliğini araştırmak amacı ile gerçekleştirildi. İçleme ve d ışlama kriterlerini karşılayan 22 hastanın 4 hafta nöroleptik, 4 hafta nöroleptik+prednizolon tedavisinin negatif ve pozitif de ğerlendirme ölçek sonuçları karşılaştırı ldı . Nöroleptik+prednizolon kombinasyon tedavisinin negatif semptomlara anlaml ı derecede fayda sağladığı bulundu. Bu çalışma nöroleptiklerin terapötik etkinliklerini immünosupresif etkileri nedeni ile yapmış olabilecekleri ya da streoidlerin antipsikotik etkinliklerini merkezi sinir sisteminde dopaminerjik aktiviteyi artırma yolu ile yapabilecekleri konusunda ipuçları sağlar.
